Recognition and Enchantment: The Odyssey and Its After Lives
Sarah Beckwith
Description from DukeHub
This class explores the great Homeric epic, The Odyssey, and its scintillating afterlives in literature. We spend some time with this poem, examining its bardic origins and mode of story-telling, its pre-occupation with a warrior's home-coming (nostos), and the many turns Odysseus takes on his long way home to Ithaca and Penelope.
