PHYSEDU 206
Exercise and Sports Physiology
Eric T. Trexler
Description from DukeHub
This course examines how the body responds and adapts to exercise. Students explore the structure and function of major body systems such as energy production pathways, neuromuscular function, cardiorespiratory physiology, and principles that govern acute responses and long-term adaptations to training. Students learn how physiological measurements are used to assess fitness and performance, how scientific research informs exercise and nutrition strategies and how individuals can implement various training strategies to improve health, function, and performance. Course concepts are addressed through textbook reading, research, lecture, discussion, student presentations, and practical activities such as designing training programs and identifying nutritional strategies.
