RADIOL 222C

Vascular & Interventional Radiology

Alex Solomon

Description from DukeHub

This two-week selective is geared towards students interested in the field of Interventional Radiology. We aim to provide an immersive experience including outpatient clinic, inpatient consults, and procedural care in IR. The day begins with clinical rounds at 645 AM daily in the VIR reading room, Duke North, Room 1503. After rounds, you will go to your personalized daily assignment, which may be a specific procedural room, inpatient consults, or outpatient clinic. Across the week, students will be involved in: (1) pre-procedural patient care: via focused inpatient and outpatient patient assessment, review of imaging, and informed consent process; (2) intra-procedural care: devices, terminology, and technique; (3) post-procedural patient care: focused patient assessment in the radiology recovery room, as well as in the inpatient setting, (4) patient follow-up care planning. NOTE: Students that take this one week selective may not take the fourth-year course equivalent, RADIOL 404C but may still take the 4-week elective RADIOL 406C. Permission not required to enroll. For more information or if you have registered, please contact course coordinator Helen Wu. Enrollment Max: 2; Credit 2. Alex J. Solomon, MD
