WRITING 312S
Health Science Information Literacy for the 21st Century
Cary A. Moskovitz
Description from DukeHub
The health sciences, such as medicine, dentistry, and nutrition, are among the major achievements of human history. Yet the exponential growth of untrustworthy and fraudulent scientific publications is making it increasingly difficult to locate accurate, high-quality health science information. In this course, students will learn about current threats to quality scientific communication such as fake scientific journals, inadequate peer-review, and how conflicts of interest can bias scientific publications. To combat these challenges, students will learn advanced skills in locating and evaluating scientific information, using research databases, evaluating generative AI tools for scientific content, and more. Students will also gain skills in scientific communications.
