Óscar Romero and the Américas
Matthew Philipp Whelan
Description from DukeHub
This seminar explores the life, ministry, and martyrdom of Saint Óscar Romero and his enduring significance for the church and the world today. After situating Romero in the historical and theological context of Latin America, the course undertakes a close study of his writings and pastoral witness before drawing upon them as a lens through which to interpret contemporary realities such as forced migration, gang violence, and the socio-ecological crisis.
